Position: Maintenance Manager - Wood Products Manufacturing Plant

Department: Maintenance

Reporting To: Plant Manager

Location: Dothan, AL

Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt

Job Description:

As the Maintenance Manager, you will play a critical role in establishing and leading the maintenance systems and team at a greenfield startup. Your responsibilities will include training and mentoring staff, designing work schedules, providing technical support, and troubleshooting system issues. Additionally, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment on-site. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, possess extensive knowledge of industrial and commercial maintenance systems, and ensure the timely and compliant completion of all maintenance tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Foster a culture of safety throughout the plant and maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to achieve production targets and quality objectives.
Implement preventative maintenance methods to minimize downtime and optimize resource utilization.
Develop and implement maintenance staff schedules in alignment with operational needs.
Train, mentor, and hold the maintenance team accountable for performing their jobs safely and efficiently.
Utilize CMMS to maintain operational uptime and manage inventory of critical spare parts.
Troubleshoot major system failures and equipment malfunctions.
Ensure timely completion of preventative maintenance work.
Review work backlog and schedule to optimize efficiency.
Communicate effectively with other management groups to address issues and drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Commitment to safety and adherence to regulations.
Experience managing maintenance teams and supporting continuous improvements.
TPM and greenfield plant experience preferred.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in CMMS programs and Microsoft Office Suite.
Innovative problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle high-pressure environments.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work in varying temperatures and industrial environments.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overnight as needed.
Physically capable of performing essential job functions.
