Role Summary

Software Developer is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining applications for internal and external use utilizing web-based languages and frameworks. The developer will create back-end and front-end components, connect internal applications with third-party vendors via API, and assist team leaders with planning and road-mapping future projects. The developer’s role will carry an amount of creative freedom by creating new tools for an industry leader.


Some of what to expect with this role:

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex internal web systems using the Drupal 7/10 Content Management System (CMS).
  • Utilize Drupal to develop, support, configure, and enhance web solutions for the organization.
  • Provide leadership and senior consultation for large-scale website development projects having important (high risk) company-wide impact.
  • Collaborate closely with company Directors and Executives to analyze requirements, review designs, and iteratively develop functional prototypes and launch-ready websites that align with our business needs and aesthetic preferences.
  • Provide organization with training on managing content within the programs created.
  • Regularly engage with team members and leaders to ensure ongoing satisfaction.
  • Plan and implement solutions to address end user issues and service requests promptly.
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of website functionality to troubleshoot and execute emergency fixes, ensuring websites are fully operational.
  • Review and approve completed websites, ensuring they meet standards for quality control, content accuracy, coding precision, usability, HIPAA compliance, and user acceptance.
  • Lead efforts to swiftly resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 tickets for over 125 supported websites.


Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience writing PHP, including the use of object-oriented programming and MVC design patterns
  • 4+ years of experience with Drupal, including Drupal 8/9/10/11 and with a focus on:

Custom module development

Site building features like content types, Views, Blocks, and others

Demonstrate good working knowledge of best practices, such as adhering to Drupal coding standards, use and creation of services for the Symfony service container, and hooks

  • 4+ years of experience with relational databases, such as MySQL and MariaDB
  • 4+ years of experience working with Linux, especially Debian, in development and production environments
  • The ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and occasionally work outside the scope of a strictly-PHP developer, including working with JavaScript and other common web technologies
  • Front-end and back-end development experience, the ability to create applications covering all of its aspects
  • Comfortable with Agile methodologies
  • Excellent ability to communicate with non-developers to create new applications by collecting specifications, setting expectations, reporting in on progress, and working with stakeholders and/or project managers to determine timelines
  • At least 2 Years of experience in Information Technology


Preferred Skills and Traits

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Systems) OR equivalent working experience as a developer

Experience working with the following:

  • Drupal (7.x, 8/9/10/11 is preferable) as a framework
  • Symfony/Laravel
  • Node.js
  • Bootstrap
  • Linux administration (including bash scripting)
  • Ability to write technical documentation

The effectiveness of the Software Developer is measured by their ability to write maintainable code, communicate effectively, and meet reasonable deadlines. The mark of a great developer is one who is forward-thinking and understands the needs of the end-user. Critical thinking is a requirement when taking into account the security, usability, optimization, and integrity of the applications being developed.
