A Day in the Life of a Member Services Representative

As a Member Services Representative, you will be the first point of contact for members, guests, and program participants. Your role will involve promoting memberships, resolving customer inquiries, and ensuring the smooth operation of the front desk. You’ll help foster member engagement and support the YMCA’s mission to build strong communities by providing exceptional customer service.


Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering excellent customer service to members, guests, and program participants in person and over the phone
  • Conducting facility tours and promoting memberships to prospective members
  • Addressing and resolving customer service issues and escalating matters when necessary
  • Managing membership and program ID processes, ensuring accurate data entry
  • Monitoring the cleanliness and organization of the lobby area
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as filing and locker room monitoring


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Previous customer service, sales, member interaction, or related experience
  • Must me at least 18 years of age or older
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Basic computer skills
  • Flexibility to take on different shifts, including early mornings (5:15 AM) and evening hours (until 9:00 PM), as you transition to a 5-shift system in the new facility.
