They thrive on gaining deep knowledge of complex and constantly changing technical competitive landscapes and distilling that knowledge into clear and compelling language that drives brand and customer goals forward. The Director of Product Marketing should be a hands-on do-er who collaborates well with brand marketing, growth marketing, sales, product, and engineering, and should feel comfortable combining their knowledge of product marketing, customer-centric storytelling, and breaking through noisy “share of voice” competitive spaces, especially in the context of SaaS B2B, cybersecurity, and AI. The ideal candidate should demonstrate an extensive track record of orchestrating successful product marketing programs in a fast-growing enterprise tech environment.

Having already been named as a vendor in Gartner’s market guide for API Protection and Kubernetes Runtime Security as well as Forrester’s Zero Trust landscape all in the first half of 2024, the sky is the limit for leading this growing market.


‍Responsibilities:

  • Expand and optimize the product marketing framework across brand, product, feature, benefit, and competitor messaging. Customize messaging to ICP personas and contexts with various levels of specificity mapped to stages in the sales funnel/customer journey.
  • Write clear and compelling creative customized to relevant content and context across cybersecurity and verticalized/industry-specific use cases (especially FinTech).
  • Work closely with growth marketing, brand marketing, sales, and product to make sure that messaging is being used effectively and that feedback from customers, analysts, and influencers is being appropriately incorporated into new iterations. 
  • Create relevant content such as user case studies, sales assets, presentations, blog posts, and website messaging, working with appropriate teams to disseminate the brand narrative and product/customer value propositions with the right message at the right time to drive sales goals. 
  • Build out and maintain an evolving view of competitor messaging and customer pain points, optimizing messaging to outpace and keep up with rapidly changing competitors.
  • Presence at and support for GTM campaigns and activities including event booths, webinars, and other similar marketing activities that overlap between product marketing, growth marketing, and brand marketing.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with growing responsibility in related roles with a strong track record of success in a startup environment.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of product marketing, with excellent language and creative writing skills applied to distilling deeply technical concepts into simple and compelling messaging.
  • Comfort with and passion for cross-functional relationship building across stakeholders, customers and vendors.
  • Experience researching and validating various market/category and messaging directions in a complex competitive landscape to match the right benefits/features to the customers’ most urgent needs
  • Impeccable written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Open, curious and receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things
  • Willing to mentor new members of the team as the company grows
  • Working technical familiarity with basics of Kubernetes, APIs, Cloud Security, and AI
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, humanities, communications or similar with demonstrated comfort with technical topics either through coursework, extension classes or prior work experience.


Work Hours & Location:

  • Operant is a remote-first company and welcomes qualified applicants from across the US and Canada.
  • This position will require you to be available during core PST business hours (9am-5pm) and to adjust schedules occasionally based on customer and business needs including business travel, client meeting/call schedules, and team off-sites.
