Assistant Director, Data Engineering

The Page Group is partnering with a leading organization to fill the role of Assistant Director of Data Engineering within their Enterprise Analytics division. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team in designing and implementing cutting-edge database solutions that align with the company's strategic goals.


Position Overview:

As the Assistant Director of Data Engineering, you will manage and lead a team of database engineers responsible for database development, data warehousing, operational data management, and database administration. Working in an Agile environment, you will collaborate cross-functionally to design and implement data solutions that drive business success. Your leadership will be critical in delivering projects on time, optimizing team performance, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Manage and lead a multidisciplinary database engineering team, ensuring alignment with company strategies and business goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Develop strong relationships with various departments to identify and prioritize data and analytics needs, integrating them into data engineering plans.
  • Project Management: Ensure on-time project delivery by establishing a framework of accountability and promoting best practices.
  • Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement process improvements, including infrastructure scaling, data delivery optimization, and process automation.
  • Data Pipeline Management: Design, maintain, and troubleshoot robust data pipelines to process and analyze large data volumes from diverse sources.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with data, design, product, and executive teams to support their data infrastructure needs and address technical issues.
  • Roadmap Articulation: Develop and communicate tactical roadmaps and initiatives to scale data engineering efforts quickly and sustainably.
  • Mentorship & Development: Coach and mentor your team, fostering growth and technical expertise.
  • Data Infrastructure: Participate in the design and implementation of scalable and secure data infrastructure solutions.
  • Data Governance: Establish data governance practices, ensuring compliance with data quality and validation standards.
  • Unified Methodology: Promote a consistent database engineering methodology across all functions.
  • Innovation & Best Practices: Stay current with the latest data engineering technologies and best practices, providing guidance to your team.
  • Collaboration with Data Scientists: Support algorithm and analytics development by collaborating closely with data scientists.
  • Security Controls: Implement and manage security controls to ensure data access aligns with organizational policies and user roles.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience leading and managing teams in a similar role.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other required certifications or licenses.
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, data warehousing concepts, and data management best practices.
  • Extensive experience with modern data architecture concepts, including building data marts, warehouses, and lakes.
  • Proficiency with cloud technologies such as GCP, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with BigQuery and enterprise-scale data platforms.
  • Experience managing cross-functional requirements in an Agile environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with the ability to stay updated on the latest developments in data engineering.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to access all areas of the property and navigate drive areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Ability to interact effectively with guests, management, team members, and external contacts.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stretch, bend, and kneel for prolonged periods.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, busy environment with exposure to various environmental factors.
