The Director of Distribution and Logistics will manage & oversee all operational, distribution,

and logistical aspects of the curriculum distribution, provide day-to-day leadership and

management of the inventory and logistics team, and develop strategies in line with the overall

company goals and objectives. The Director of Distribution and Logistics must be

well-organized, and self-directed, while maintaining a team-oriented approach. Exercise an

understanding of scale, as it relates to making strategic decisions to address both the short term

needs, with long term goals and growth. This person must exhibit the ability to adapt and

change when necessary. Above all other requirements is an insatiable desire to model the

behavior of both being and promoting creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit, a

forward-thinking approach, while being able to integrate detailed information into a “big

picture” view to make balanced decisions to the greatest benefit of the company.


Education, Certification, and Experience (Preferred):

● Completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

● 5 years of hands-on experience in warehouse and distribution center management or

supervisory role is preferred.

● Experience in an automated shipping environment is a plus.

Leadership

● Liaise with all departments, including Executive, Accounting, Sales, Client

● Human Resources, Marketing, etc., to align on objectives, risks/opportunities, and

plans.

● Work with various layers of leadership to formulate and implement operational

business strategy, plans, operational best practice, policy, and procedure.

Quality & Financial

● Drive the development and execution of the organization’s logistical/operational

strategy.

● Successfully manage all inbound freight activity including returns.

● Design and develop long-term warehousing and third-party logistics vendor

management strategy.

● Design and develop long-term strategy for logistics around onshore/offshore print and

production hardware customization.

● Ensure measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes

throughout all layers of the operational structure.

● Create reports to demonstrate the success of operational activities, analyze results,

report on key metrics, and findings.

People & Development

● Foster a success-oriented, accountability/ownership-driven environment within the

department.

● Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement plans for the operational

infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the

rapid growth objectives of the organization.

● Motivate and lead a high-performance operations team; attract, recruit, and retain

required members of the team not currently in place; providing mentoring as a

cornerstone to the management career development program.

● Build and promote an organizational culture that is customer-centric, professional,

and respected as a “best place to work”.

Compliance

● Manage day to day relationships with third parties to ensure compliance while

maximizing output & execution.

● Adapt operations to meet varied operational & compliance needs based upon

geographical regulations and requirements while maintaining maximum efficiency.

● Ensure that business processes are systematized to ensure consistent service delivery,

increasing efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

● Update job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in

educational opportunities, accomplishing relevant certifications, reading professional

publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional

organizations.


Experience

● Bachelor’s Degree in Business Operations or related field and five to ten+ years related

experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience;

operational experience in a highly regulated industry preferred.

● Extensive experience in logistics and distribution.

● A strategic mindset, and ability to lead the development and execution of

comprehensive plans tied to concrete business outcomes with minimal supervision.

● Strong project management skills to multi-task and manage multiple projects

simultaneously from beginning to end.

● Experience working in startup environments, including demonstrated ability to work

in the absence of large company resources, processes, and structure.

● Proven ability to drive change; standardize process and procedure; build and maintain

a strong performance and accountability culture.

● Highly proactive and able to navigate ambiguity and complexity while developing

successful solutions.

● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple, deadline-driven

projects with a keen attention to detail.

● Effective at operating in a lean, fast-paced environment, with the ability to learn

quickly and absorb new information.

● Strong process/project management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and

the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities.
