Robert Half is working with a client that is looking to bring on a new product marketing manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating our relevant product marketing content. Your market research will help guide you when creating this content. You will collaborate with other internal teams and product marketing team members to develop our strategy for product launches and product positioning. Must have hardware, whole sale building materials or similar background.


As a Product Manager, you will lead a team responsible for driving the profitable growth of the consumer products category. Your role involves enhancing the profitability of existing products and spearheading the development of new products for the company. You will leverage your industry expertise and customer interactions to refine existing ideas and devise innovative concepts. A successful candidate will possess a blend of business acumen, technical proficiency, strategic vision, and a proactive approach to realizing goals. Key responsibilities include market immersion to identify challenges and devise effective solutions, effective communication across departments, defining go-to-market strategies in collaboration with marketing, and championing the product internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the profit and loss (P/L) for the product line
  • Optimize the existing product portfolio by addressing underperforming SKUs
  • Engage in all stages of the product development lifecycle, including analysis, design, testing, integration, and market introduction

Key Duties:

  • Analyze customer research, market trends, and competitive landscape to identify product opportunities
  • Develop product plans for new offerings
  • Prioritize development projects based on resource allocation and business value
  • Create business cases with market insights, growth potential, competitive analysis, and pricing strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Channel, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain) to execute product development plans
  • Align product roadmaps with corporate strategic objectives
  • Define pricing strategies for new and existing products and programs

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong competitive intelligence and market analysis skills
  • Proficiency in functional specifications, new product development, and product management lifecycle
  • Ability to conduct user research, product demonstrations, and manage product requirements
  • Experience with software requirements specification and integrated development environments (IDEs)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, or 7-10 years of product management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Analytical skills for product line management (e.g., profit/loss analysis)
  • Strategic thinking, technical proficiency, and creativity
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Product Line Review management
  • Ability to work with urgency, initiative, and manage multiple deadlines while fostering collaboration and communication within the team and with stakeholders
  • Comfortable with travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America
