Assistant Facility Manager

Summary: The Assistant Facility Manager performs daily facility operations responsibilities to assist the Facility Manager and professional staff members. Duties include running routine safety inspections, corresponding with contractors, planning maintenance work, maintaining records. Coordinate repair, alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate maintenance personnel. Responsible for Food Safety and is trained in; HACCP, GMP, SQF, Food Defense, and Allergen Management and Chemical Control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Work closely with the manufacturing department to plan, develop, and maintain safe and effective. workstations for all the areas of manufacturing.
• Provide round -the -clock support and troubleshoot any equipment problems and concerns.
• Analize root causes of equipment failures and propose corrective action to the Facility Manager.
• Perform regular inspections to identify and correct equipment malfunctions, schedule repairs, and propose any changes to the PM if necessary.
• Assemble, evaluate, and maintain company’s equipment.
• Manage the Equipment Preventive Maintenance Program and analyze results through the CMMS system (Asset Essentials) to help control the proper functioning of the entire facility, and the uninterrupted operation of all production equipment.
• Manage part inventory and critical equipment parts.
• Maintain the critical facility components including but not limited to HVAC, water, boiler, heating, air flow systems, and all manufacturing equipment.
• Manage the maintenance staff by interviewing, hiring, and supervising their activities, measuring performance, and providing the training and documentation necessary to accomplish their job tasks.
• Conduct meetings to inform, develop, and motivate the staff to achieve specific performance objectives and meet organizational and individual goals.
• Help to implement and maintain standards and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws issued by OSHA, EPA, DOA, LOTO and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
• Participate in management meetings to assist in planning and to make recommendations on matters of manufacturing equipment, and maintenance operations.
• Help to implement and maintain a program that will outline and detail all safety policies, designate the location of all safety information, support the Facility Manager with the safety committee, and document the minutes of the safety committee meetings.
• Continually improve the effectiveness of the maintenance, and safety programs in the bakery by conducting inspections and hazard analysis, and by implementing new systems that will keep the facility operating at an optimal performance level.
• Working with the Facilty Manager to select, manage, and supervise the various contractors that will work in the facility.
• Controls and supervises the receiving function for the maintenance and manufacturing areas including logging of all receipts, storage of goods, and training and supervision of personnel.
• Supervise the purchasing of materials for the Maintenance Department.
• Working with the Facility Manager reviewing and manage the payroll timesheets and budget for the Maintenance Department.
• Responsibility for GMP, Food Safety, Chemical Control, HACCP, Food Defense and Allergen Management.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degrees in electronics/Electrical are a plus.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. In addition the ability to communicate to employees using basic Spanish is a plus.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Manufacturing software, Database software
Certificates and Licenses:
Certificate(s) and/or Licenses as required operating and maintaining the equipment necessary in the operation of the bakery.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
