The HR Consultant will be responsible for managing all people-related aspects of each assigned client’s business, from strategic planning to hands-on execution of HR tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Partnership: Work closely with business owners and leadership teams to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company’s business goals. Provide guidance on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent management.
  • HR Generalist Functions: Manage a wide range of HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, training and development, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Evaluate HR policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Assess business risks related to HR practices and provide recommendations to mitigate those risks.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee issues, managing everything from conflict resolution to disciplinary actions. Ensure that employee relations strategies align with the company’s culture and values.
  • Talent Acquisition: Lead recruitment efforts, from creating job descriptions to interviewing and onboarding new employees. Work with clients to attract and retain top talent.
  • Performance Management: Develop and implement performance management processes, including setting objectives, conducting evaluations, and managing performance improvement plans.
  • HR Policy Development: Create and maintain HR policies and procedures tailored to each client’s needs. Ensure these policies support the company’s objectives and comply with legal requirements.
  • HR Administration: Handle day-to-day HR administrative tasks, including maintaining employee records, processing payroll, and managing benefits administration.


Skills and Experience:

  • HR Generalist Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a comprehensive HR role, preferably with experience across multiple industries.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven experience working with senior leadership and business owners, with the ability to influence and advise on strategic HR matters.
  • HR Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of HR laws and regulations, with experience in assessing and mitigating business risks related to HR practices.
  • Strategic Thinker and Doer: Ability to think strategically about the people side of the business while being hands-on with executing HR tasks.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to navigate complex employee relations issues.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with clients at all levels.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, payroll software, and other HR technology tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or other Bachelor’s degree with relevant work experience
  • Certifications:  HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
  • Consulting Experience: Prior experience in an HR consulting role is highly desirable.


Other Requirements:

  • This position does require frequent travel to client offices in and around the Houston, Texas area
  • This position may require occasional travel outside of the Houston area to visit client offices
  • Having reliable transportation throughout the business day is essential to this position
  • A background check will be required following an offer and acceptance
