SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Manager, US Federal Sales and Business Development will be responsible for complete oversight and management of the identification, development, pursuit, and capture of business opportunities in the US DoS, DHS, and any Federal sector with a specific focus on CBP, FBI, Secret Service, Air Marshals, and US Marshalls. The Manager, US Federal Sales and Business Development will develop and execute measurable sales strategies to effectively achieve annual and multi-year sales goals. The position will also support Beretta Defense Technologies, Sister Companies, Steiner Optik, and Burris collaboration projects as required. Having a solid understanding of US Federal needs/requirements, while also having an in-depth understanding of the concept-of-operations across the Steiner product and technology portfolio will be critical to success in the position. The Manager, US Federal Sales and Business Development serves a critical role in one of the company’s key strategic growth initiatives. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Serve as the principal liaison with all key US Federal customers. Leverage and establish industry connections. 

• Develop relationships with US Federal customers for Steiner products and capabilities in the areas of optical sighting systems: riflescopes, binoculars, laser aiming devices, night vision and thermal devices, and IFF beacons; further establish the Steiner brand. Explore opportunities across all Federal Agencies, and program offices.

• Engage with high-ranking Government and Federal project officials who have substantial decision authority. 

• Develop new business opportunities and identify/capture current project opportunities within the specific, targeted Federal customer organizations.

• Develop an actionable strategic account plan and identify the resources required to execute the plan.

• Analyze the annual Federal budget, service spending accounts, and technology roadmaps to understand present and future customer needs.

• Demonstrate a solid understanding of and comply with US DoD/Federal Government rules, regulations (i.e., DFAR/ITAR/EAR), and procurement processes.

• Conduct the activities leading to the qualification and capture of new business opportunities including assessing the probability of success, developing the pursuit strategy, and establishing the bid/win strategy. May include proposal management.

• Perform ongoing assessments of customer requirements, determine market trends, and develop strategies that align the customer’s needs with Steiner capabilities and discriminators.

• Focus on the identification and capture of Federal “programs-of-record” (POR) to ensure stabilized sources of revenue. 

• Manage key relationships to ensure the brand is well positioned for success.

• Manage and conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations.

• Coordinate and participate in applicable trade shows and industry technical conferences.

• Participate in bid decisions, development of cost strategies, company technology roadmaps, and new product development phase gate reviews.

• Inform company leadership on the “voice-of-the-customer” and advocate internally for the actions and commitments necessary to win.

• Coordinate on a timely regular basis with all members of the sales/BD team to include Steiner eOptics internal stakeholders and external Beretta Holdings teammates.


REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or Engineering, or equivalent (4+) years of experience in the Military or closely related industry

• Military/Federal background: prior military/federal or civilian service experience preferred

• Minimum of 10+ years of Federal, DoD Sales experience and capture

• Track record of bid success and generating new business opportunities.

• Knowledge of the DoD/federal budgeting process and acquisition regulations, policies, contract vehicles.

• Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to overcome the challenges needed to drive revenue growth. 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong business acumen and a bias-for-action; creative, analytical thinker

• Possess high moral compass and integrity

• Knowledge of the optical sighting systems market a strong plus

• Knowledge of dismounted-soldier-borne equipment market a strong plus

• Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

• Prior experience with SalesForce is preferred

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in a mix of office time, field travel, field product demonstrations and sales/business development calls with travel commensurate to support the overall sales objectives
