About the Job:

Plans, implements, and supervises project safety, accident, and fire protection programs in compliance with corporate, federal, state standards. Approximately 50% of work time should be spent in the field conducting assessments, interacting with crews, subcontractors, etc. Serves as a key resource for safety related information on the project.



Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with site supervisors to address unsafe conditions.
  • Coach site teams on hazard identification and elimination.
  • Develop and implement safety methods and practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and assessments.
  • Engage with crews and subcontractors to ensure adherence to safety practices.
  • Investigate incidents to determine root causes and lead Root Cause Analysis and Five Why Analysis.
  • Accompany safety, health, and insurance inspectors on site tours.
  • Complete and manage all safety documentation.
  • Maintain honest and ethical communication with personnel and owners.
  • Participate in daily safety discussions with Site Manager and Superintendents.
  • Review safety documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assess work plans, instructions, and activities for safety compliance.
  • Participate in JHA meetings, weekly look-aheads, and subcontractor alignment meetings.
  • Conduct training and orientations.
  • Implement and sustain preventative safety measures.
  • Manage injury cases and collaborate to mitigate claims and costs.
  • Comply with Return-to-Work policy.
  • Develop relationships with local occupational physicians, EMTs, fire departments, and law enforcement.
  • Manage the project's safety budget.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or related field (preferred).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in incident investigation techniques and safety management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful safety programs and initiatives.
  • Experience in leading and coaching teams on safety best practices.
  • Familiarity with safety budget management and cost control measures.
