Title:: IT Support Technician

Location – Rochester Hills, MI (100% remote but must be local to metro Detroit)

Length of Assignment – 12 Months (Possibility of Extension)

Pay Range - $20 - $24 an hour


Job Summary:

The Identity & Access Management (IAM) Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and proper management of user identities across the organization's IT systems, networks, and applications. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of user object management, including creation, modification, and termination, to safeguard access to sensitive information. The IAM Technician is part of a distributed team working in a FIFO queue system, processing requests to support multi-site identity object libraries. Additionally, the role provides second-level support for IAM incidents and works closely with the Information Privacy and Security Office (IPSO) to ensure technical compliance with relevant policies, laws, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incident Management: Independently manage escalated and moderately complex incidents related to identity and access management.
  • Access Request Processing: Process Access Request Forms for provisioning, ensuring compliance with documented processes for target systems or services.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Interface directly with system leaders, managers, and executives to provide identity credentials.
  • Sensitive Account Support: Provide immediate support for sensitive account management, including terminations and investigations, while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
  • Procedure Development: Assist in creating and maintaining procedure, process, and policy documents to protect the integrity of user objects.
  • Account Management Tasks: Perform routine tasks such as manipulating identity objects, auditing accounts, investigating accounts, and managing role-based access.
  • On-Call Support: Provide 24x7x365 on-call support on a rotating schedule.
  • Security Enhancement: Identify opportunities for improving security initiatives related to identity and access management.
  • Tool and Service Development: Assist with the implementation, development, testing, and evaluation of security-focused tools and services.
  • Administration of Identity Management Systems: Manage user accounts and services, including but not limited to:
  • Courion (CORE) Automation
  • Epic account management
  • Active Directory user objects
  • Proprietary management consoles
  • Policy Contribution: Contribute to developing and maintaining Information Privacy and Security policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in account management services and solutions.
  • System Administration: Experience with server administration at the user object level, including Microsoft Server and Linux.
  • Security & Privacy Knowledge: Basic understanding of privacy/security principles and their relation to identity objects.
  • IT System Exposure: Experience in IT system maintenance, lifecycle management, technical support, and application development.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Strong analytical, multi-tasking, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Federated Identity: Exposure to federated identity tools.
  • Security Protocols: Understanding of system and network security, authentication protocols, cryptography, and application security.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, and solve problems analytically.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with identity management best practices and compliance requirements related to identity security.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Teamwork & Leadership: Service-oriented team player with leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Pressure Management: Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and respond with urgency.
  • Self-motivation: Self-driven with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with HIPAA, HITECH, and NIST standards is highly desirable.
  • Healthcare Experience: Prior experience in the healthcare industry is a plus.

Required Education:

  • Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
