Project Manager

Location: St. Louis - Onsite 4 days a week, remote 1 day a week

Hourly Rate: $55/hour

Department: Software and Data Platforms

We are a technically capable team supporting a crucial location lifecycle management database that provides vital customer and hardware data to multiple business units. Our environment is evolving post-reorganization, and we are seeking a motivated Project Manager to guide our location lifecycle management initiatives through this transition.


Role Overview:

This Project Manager will be instrumental in overseeing and managing projects spanning multiple stakeholders involving location and device based data. You will work closely with a team of 25 software developers, navigating through a transitioning Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process. Your role will involve standard project management tasks, including requirement gathering, managing project timelines, and coordinating between teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
  • Oversee and manage projects related to effective usage of this location platform, including platform maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Gather and document requirements from business teams, converting them into technical specifications for the development team.
  • Create detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Track project progress, update stakeholders, and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Act as the main point of contact for all location-related projects, liaising between business teams, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings, gather estimates, and manage dependencies.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, timelines, and any issues that arise.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Work within an evolving SDLC process, adapting to changes and contributing to the refinement of project management practices.
  • Assist in transitioning from SAFe to a more flexible methodology, including updating Jira and implementing a Kanban approach.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Java services, and technical platforms/products.
  • Understanding of backend systems and data management.
  • Experience and Knowledge:
  • Proven experience in managing projects in a technical environment.
  • Experience with platform or product management is a plus.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Resilient and able to handle a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Methodologies:
  • Experience with various project management methodologies; experience with SAFe is a plus, but a flexible approach is required as we transition.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in process and methodology.
