Position Title: Paralegal Team Coordinator (Full time- Hybrid) – Location: Ybor City Office

This position acts as a liaison between the Team Leader and SAU members, Interns, other agencies associated with grants assigned to the SAU (Senior Connection Center, etc.) and also performs Paralegal duties. Primary duties and responsibilities are to ensuring required reporting is prepared and submitted accurately and timely as outlined in grant goals and objectives, coordinating and overseeing related grant projects. Provides support in grant submission assigned to Team leader such as grant writing, revision, new grant opportunities, submittal, research, statistical data, grant monitoring, etc. Paralegal duties are performed under the direction and supervision of attorneys, and provide advanced, complex assistance in support of team advocates and client caseloads. Offering paralegal support for staff attorneys such as preparing pleadings and motions for approval. Under general attorney supervision, facilitates the discovery process, including: obtaining records, reviewing documents, interviewing clients, preparing materials for hearings, and summarizing and analyzing research. Also identifying, summarizing, and monitoring relevant issues. Performs a variety of administrative support tasks as assigned, including coordinating community outreach.

Illustrative Duties:


• Coordinate grant reporting for all SAU assigned grants (i.e. Title III), prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports based on agency/grant requirements as outlined in grant goals and objectives.

• Coordinate grant projects assigned to the SAU, research and compile statistics and other data, assists in writing narratives for grant proposals, grant monitoring (desk reviews) for project timeline.

• Assists Team Leader with grant writing, revision and identifying new grant opportunities. Responsible for compiling all grant applications for the SAU Team and prepares in final form for submission on a timely basis.

• Attends grant training or other appropriate training as necessary, performs other administrative support tasks in support of the SAU Team, and coordinates community outreach activities.


Paralegal Duties


• Interview new and continuing service clients. 

• Investigate facts, prepare witnesses and evidence for negotiations, administrative hearings, and trials. Checks and examines law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare complex legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals with minimal supervision for attorney’s approval. Assists with trial preparation by organizing exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.

• Represent clients at administrative hearings. Handle individual client matters independently, but under attorney supervision.

• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervising attorney, including private attorney involvement as appropriate.


Minimum Qualification:


• Minimum 2 years of experience as a paralegal with an AA degree in paralegal studies or 1-year experience as a paralegal with a Bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or may substitute education with a total of 5 years’ experience as a paralegal. 

• Demonstrated experience with compiling complex statistical reports. 

• Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate data accurately and efficiently.


Desirable Qualifications:


• Bi-lingual fluency in both Spanish and English strongly preferred. 

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar position with a non-profit organization working with Grants and 2 years’ experience as a legal admin. asst.

• Paralegal Certification.


Compensation: 

• Starting hourly rate $19.17-$20.10/hr, increases based on experience level

• Excellent benefits including annual leave and sick leave, reimbursement for mileage for work related events, continuing education and professional licensure renewal paid.


This position requires successful completion of a level II background screening based on the required duties and responsibilities
