The Supply Chain Specialist plays a critical role in managing and optimizing the supply chain processes within an ice cream manufacturing company. This position involves coordinating procurement, production planning, inventory management, and logistics to ensure a seamless flow of materials and products. The Supply Chain Specialist will work closely with suppliers, production teams, and distribution partners to meet customer demand while minimizing costs and ensuring quality.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Procurement and Supplier Management:
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers for raw materials, packaging, and other essentials required for ice cream production.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery times, or pricing.
  1. Production Planning:
  • Collaborate with production teams to develop and implement production schedules based on customer orders, demand forecasts, and inventory levels.
  • Optimize production processes to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with the production team to adjust schedules in response to changes in demand or supply chain disruptions.
  1. Inventory Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to prevent stock outs or overstock situations.
  • Implement inventory control systems to track stock levels, manage reordering points, and reduce waste.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  1. Logistics and Distribution:
  • Coordinate the transportation of raw materials to the manufacturing facility and finished products to distribution centers or customers.
  • Work with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Manage warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and dispatching of products.
  1. Demand Forecasting and Analysis:
  • Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and customer forecasts to predict demand for ice cream products.
  • Use forecasting tools and techniques to inform production planning and inventory management decisions.
  • Prepare and present reports on supply chain performance, including key metrics such as lead times, inventory turnover, and delivery accuracy.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline supply chain processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance supply chain operations.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall business performance.
  1. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with food safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to address any issues related to product quality or safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of all supply chain activities for audit and compliance purposes.
