About the Role:

As a Material Planner II, you will play a crucial role in managing the supply chain for our projects, particularly within the maritime industry. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supplier Interaction: Solicit suppliers for price and availability information, ensuring we have the right materials at the right time.
  • Material Awareness: Identify Long Lead Time Materials (LLTM) and communicate their status effectively.
  • Documentation Management: Generate Pre-Proposal Inquiries (PPI), Requests for Clarification (RFC), and Inspection/Deficiency Reports (IDR) as needed.
  • Collaboration: Interface with various trades to ensure accurate material estimates and requisitions support production efforts.
  • Schedule Management: Review schedules and ensure material need dates are clearly communicated to vendors.
  • Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to develop accurate material estimates for repairs and new work.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while actively collaborating with team members.
  • Participate in supplier meetings and negotiations, addressing any concerns and evaluating supplier performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives alongside the purchasing team.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 3+ years in material planning or a related field.
  • Education: High school diploma or higher.
  • Skills:
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and develop material estimates.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver flexible solutions to meet production needs.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with various stakeholders, including estimators, buyers, and craft personnel.
