SUMMARY

The Network Specialist is responsible for designing, configuring, maintaining, supervising, optimizing, and delivering core network services, devices, and communications systems. The Network Specialist works alongside Support Team members to provide logistical support, respond to queries, document changes, define testing and roll-out procedures, assess, diagnose, and resolve network service outages and incidents. The Network Specialist maintains network systems, on-premise and in the cloud, enables services, and responds to IT user requests for network status information.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Analyze the requirements of the business for the network implementations
  • Propose alternative solutions to the IT Senior Manager and CIO on how the business requirement for the network services could be efficiently fulfilled
  • Plan, design, configure, test, procure, and implement the chosen network solution
  • Define redundancy and resilient solutions to guarantee the required service level
  • Establish and supervise the proper monitoring tools, alerts, and intervention procedures required to provide a high level of service, preventive intervention, and a swift resolution in case of issues
  • Understands and implements compliance requirements for the network services
  • Defines procedures and trains the IT support staff on monitoring and resolving network issues, provides support for service desk staff if required
  • Updates and maintains network documentation, assigns IP addresses, saves device configurations
  • Configures network devices for new deployments, configure replacement network devices from backup configuration files
  • Reviews hardware, software, and service vendors propose solutions and products to improve the network services, increase efficiency, reliability
  • Assists in supporting network servers and internal corporate servers.
  • Keep network diagrams, architecture, and IP assignments well-documented and current.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years’ experience working as a Network Technician for a medium to large enterprise with complex technology environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer networking and cabling infrastructure, telecommunications.
  • Advanced knowledge of communication systems for data, voice and video.
  • Knowledge around VOIP, PBX, SIP trunking is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and under own initiative.
  • Ability to write documentation and training materials.
  • Self-motivated to learn and acquire new skills.
  • Specifics: Meraki, Cisco ASA, Fortinet, VMware, Office365, Kaseya, AWS, Azure, Active Directory, Office365, Windows Server 2012 R2 and subsequent
  • Physical requirements include manual dexterity, ability to communicate orally and in writing, ability to use a computer.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, move up to 45 lbs.
