The payroll specialist will be responsible for managing and processing employee payroll accurately and on time. This role involves verifying hours worked, calculating wages, ensuring compliance with federal and state payroll regulations, and handling tax deductions, benefits, and other withholdings.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with processing weekly payroll for 1,800+ employees.
- Process employee changes and verify payroll accuracy on a weekly basis.
- Process garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, state unemployment insurance, and quarterly tax verifications.
- Develop in-depth understanding of payroll software and HRIS. Creates reports on demand.
- Review employee timecards for accuracy and reconcile variances.
- Reach out to managers and supervisors with questions and concerns pertaining to employee timecards.
- Provide training materials and deadlines to new managers.
- Monitor payroll email box.
- Prepare and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
- Support Benefits team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Is detail oriented, organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Adapts to business priorities that change quickly.
- Can multi-task and handle frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
- Must be able to demonstrate problem solving abilities, decisiveness, and flexibility.
- Must have a strong teamwork mentality.
- 3+ years' experience with full-cycle payroll processing (required).
- Ability to work independently and employ effective time management skills.
- Has experience in the following systems: ADP Workforce Now (required), Kronos Workforce Dimensions (preferred), iCIMS (preferred).
- Experience with Microsoft tools, specifically Excel (required).
- Bilingual – Spanish (preferred).
- Has the ability to handle very sensitive information in a discreet, confidential manner.
