Transmission Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage day-to-day operations from pre-construction through project completion. This role requires a hybrid work arrangement with 2-3 days per week in our clients Morristown, NJ office.
The Project Manager will ensure project safety, quality, scheduling, cost control, and effective management of contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring successful execution of single or multiple projects simultaneously.
- Direct and participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost development, and setting critical project objectives.
- Develop and manage client relationships, interfacing with clients for proposals and project-related matters.
- Conduct internal and external project risk reviews, consulting with the Legal Department as necessary.
- Negotiate and execute prime contracts, CM contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
- Implement the Project Execution Plan, covering construction execution, quality assurance, safety & health, subcontracting, staffing, organizational structure, and procurement.
- Develop construction staffing plans, train project teams, and coordinate the efficient use of staff while meeting contractual and performance requirements.
- Oversee the development and implementation of site layout, mobilization, and demobilization plans.
- Ensure all necessary project permits are secured as per project requirements.
- Manage the downstream RFP and bid process, including bidder development, prequalification, evaluation, award recommendation, and selection.
- Review, approve, and communicate internal and external reports, including budgeting, cash flow forecasts, and status reports, presenting to Project and Program Managers and executive management.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure timely development and distribution of engineering deliverables.
- Manage downstream contract administration processes, including RFIs, submittals, change management, contract closeout, documentation, and claims mitigation.
- Oversee invoicing processes for prime contracts, subcontractors, and client contractors.
- Coordinate and support client, supplier, and company commissioning and startup teams.
- Perform project safety, quality, progress, and financial audits and assessments as needed.
- Manage the non-conformance reporting process for projects.
- Facilitate project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure establishment, project set-up, closeout, and field progress tracking for construction-related activities.
- Develop and oversee materials management processes, including inventory control, receipt of goods, storage, and transportation.
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, safety and health requirements, quality, and schedule through review and coordination with field staff.
- Direct project turnover documentation, warranty administration, closeout, and recordkeeping processes.
- Manage communication with governmental, industry, and public entities on project-related matters.
- Review construction field reports.
- Mentor and train interns, construction coordinators, and assistant construction project managers.
- Provide performance feedback for project team members to their respective Department Managers.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (additional experience may substitute for the degree).
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant project management experience in the construction industry.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-hour certification strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage large volumes of work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Multiple years of experience on construction project sites, particularly in utilities.
- PMP Certification required or willingness to obtain it within 6 months of starting the position.
