Transmission Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at FirstEnergy. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and controlling projects to ensure they safely achieve their deliverables within the approved scope, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Review project documents for clarity and completeness, including scope documents, project plans, contracts, and equipment bid packages.
- Review project and contract budgets for adequacy and completeness, and initiate budget revisions as needed.
- Ensure change management protocols are followed to document changes in scope, schedule, and costs.
- Provide project status reports, including recurring, standard reports, and ad-hoc reports that address scope, budget, and schedule, and identify risks and issues with mitigation strategies.
- Obtain concurrence from affected departments to support proposed schedules and resource requirements, and review and approve project plans.
- Validate project estimates, including contingency.
- Develop a strategic and tactical execution plan for the project, with input from the project team.
- Monitor and report contractor resource levels.
- Ensure adequacy of project team membership and participation, and oversee the activities of consultants and contractors assigned.
- Understand contract terms and associated documentation of services under the contract/purchase order.
- Responsible for quality assurance and control programs, including identification of quality requirements, responsibility for QA programs, and review and approval processes for contractor-provided procedures.
- Communicate project goals, priorities, and decisions to the Region/Corporate Leadership Team.
- Ensure project challenge meetings, peer reviews, and assessments are performed.
- Work with Project Controls to develop and update project schedules.
- Identify and notify the project team of additional resources or requirements necessary to meet project scope or schedule.
- Ensure close-out and lessons-learned protocols are completed, and participate in audits of completed projects to evaluate whether identified objectives and benefits have been realized.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Construction Management, or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years' related experience required, or 7 years' experience in lieu of degree, or 5 years' transmission experience.
- Strong project management skills, with demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and control multiple tasks.
- Experience with project management tools, such as Primavera, MS Project, etc., with related scheduling and resource planning expertise preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical ability required.
- Successful candidate must be a team player and possess a willingness to work in a team environment.
- Must be willing to travel to assigned project locations throughout the service territory.
