Los Angeles, United States Moonlight Comedy Productions Full time

Created in December of 2022, Moonlight Comedy Productions is a non-profit organization that produces and distributes diverse media content, including half-hour to hour-long television programs, short and full-length films, and short-form and long-form social media content. The scope of business operations also includes the marketing and distribution of film, television, and social media content.

Hope Lopez and Maria Fe Picar each oversee operational divisions in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, respectively. As of 2024, our workforce comprises 11-50 individuals engaged through contract-based employment. Pre-production and post-production functions are conducted remotely, while on-site production occurs in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Schedules are tentative and finalized once contracts are confirmed. Disability accommodations are provided for both on-site and remote work.

Our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion drives us to provide significant opportunities to underrepresented groups, ensuring genuine and multi-faceted representation on and off the screen. Our activism goes beyond raising awareness to actively supporting underserved communities through community service, foundational apprenticeships, and volunteer programs to make tangible improvements in their lives. Our ultimate goal is to advocate for authentic portrayal and protect younger generations from identity erasure, envisioning and creating a world where individuals can witness genuine depictions of themselves in the media.

We are seeking a talented, ambitious individual with a passion for filmmaking to join us at Moonlight Comedy Productions. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional skills in visual storytelling and demonstrate a strong drive for cinematic excellence. They must exhibit a willingness to learn, adaptability, and resilience to thrive in high-pressure environments. In addition, the candidate should uphold artistic integrity and excel in interpersonal communication.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Adaptability, calm temperament, and an intersectional perspective are an advantage;
  • B.A. in Film and Television, Social Media Marketing, or other media-related fields;
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software including Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, Final Draft, Movie Magic, and other relevant platforms;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and communicate outside regular working hours;
  • Proficiency in creating scripts for film and television production;
  • Understanding of hands-on experience in on-set production functions such as camera operation, lighting, and sound/audio;
  • Knowledge of post-production processes and video editing;
  • Comprehension of social media marketing strategies and implementation; and
  • Access to stable internet during virtual meetings and reliable transportation to Los Angeles, California.

While it is not required to possess all of these skills, they represent the range of abilities that will be acquired during the unpaid apprenticeship.

Under the mentorship of Hope Lopez, the Showrunner/Executive Producer of the Los Angeles Division, the selected two applicants will receive comprehensive training to navigate the demanding landscape of Hollywood. Hope will impart essential industry knowledge, from pre-production through post-production, preparing the apprentice for entry-level roles in production companies or a position at Moonlight. Regardless of experience, all are encouraged to apply, as taking this bold step is the first stride toward a successful career in the industry.

NOTE: In addition to applying through LinkedIn, please send your resume and cover letter (including a section detailing your top three favorite movies along with a brief explanation justifying your choices) to hope.lopez@moonlightcomedyproductions.com for further consideration. Applications that do not follow this step will not have their application reviewed.

We appreciate your application to Moonlight Comedy Productions. Your sincere interest in our company reflects commendable courage and outstanding leadership. We want to express our utmost gratitude for your support. Embrace the absurd
