Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Industrial Services Water and Wastewater Utility Engineer to join our team and lead our new and growing Industrial Engineering Division. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in greenfield water and wastewater systems for large scale manufacturing companies with multiple and unique water supply demands and waste streams. This role requires a self-starter with the initiative to explore and implement technology-based solutions that are flexible to meet ever-changing operating conditions.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead multidisciplinary technical consulting engineering/construction teams.
  • Oversee the startup and management of water and wastewater systems for industrial-sized customers, particularly Fortune 500 companies.
  • Develop and implement technology-based solutions to manage multiple and unique waste streams.
  • Conduct research and due diligence on emerging technologies with a focus on cost containment and flexibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and develop flexible implementation options.
  • Execute the planning, design, and construction management of water and wastewater projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Arizona water resources and regulatory frameworks.
  • Prepare and present reports on design and construction management activities
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Optimize water recycling processes to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to implement system improvements.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports on water usage, recycling rates, and system performance.
  • Engage with community stakeholders to promote water conservation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Review and critique consultant scopes of work and invoices as well as manage consultant communications.
  • Assess infrastructure needs based on current demands and projected future growth.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and value engineering for projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in water and wastewater management, particularly with industrial-sized manufacturing companies.
  • Strong knowledge of Arizona water resources and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have prior experience and knowledge to support and understand civil infrastructure construction.
  • 4+ years of professional experience working in Engineering with water and wastewater infrastructure/utility projects.

Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods; prolonged periods of time with repetitive motions of hands and fingers; close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus; climb stairs, navigate uneven terrain; use fingers to grasp and move small objects; ability to hear and recognize sounds; able to react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet; able to utilize personal protective equipment as appropriate for safety. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty pounds. Work is performed in an office and outdoors where the employee may be exposed to noise from construction site heavy equipment and inclement weather.
