Civil Engineer

One Tech Engineering is searching for a Civil Engineer for a position located in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Civil Engineer will work on project teams to create world class site designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects including pipelines, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, municipal, commercial, and government facilities.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology, and at least 3 years of related experience.
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Civil Engineer Responsibilities:
- Work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting site civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors, locality requirements, and/or client needs.
- Perform/assist in civil design and calculations for projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review drawings for a variety of projects.
- Design civil components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers, while incorporating client, local, state, and federal regulations including, but not limited to: Site Demolition, Erosion and Sediment Control, Grading, Drainage, Stormwater Quality/Quantity , Site Layout, Sanitary Sewer Layout and Design, Domestic and Firewater Layout and Design, and Utility Profiles.
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used site civil engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the site civil engineering services industry.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
- Compile studies and reports.
- Write specifications.
- Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
- Perform field inspections, measurements and/or calculations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Mentor younger staff.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
Requirements of the Civil Engineer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
- 3-8 years of civil engineering experience, consulting preferred.
- Minimum successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.
- Strong knowledge in site civil engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bently Software and/or hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, civil analysis programs).
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
