David Mason + Associates’ Civil Team is focused on site development & design including utility coordination, grading & drainage plans, stormwater detention & retention calculations, stormwater quality calculations & design, evaluation of surveys, and more. Our team prepares design plans for new construction and renovation projects. DMA supports clients in the education, healthcare & utility industries, among others. With a long history of relationships within the St. Louis, Chicago & Philadelphia, we are excited to expand into Tampa, Florida


As a Project Manager on our team, you will collaborate with a diverse group of engineering and architecture professionals to create building and facility designs for government, education, and healthcare clients. Beyond design work, you will have the chance to enhance your skills in collaboration, project management, leadership, and client engagement. This role involves working on multi-disciplinary projects, mentoring junior engineers, and participating in marketing and business development efforts by building client relationships and preparing proposals.


Our Tampa Civil team is looking for a hands-on Project Manager with previous design experience who is ready to jump in and support the growth of our newest office


Our ideal candidate holds a Bachelors Degree, has 10+ years’ of related engineering experience, a minimum of 5 years in civil site-design and holds a Professional Engineering License in the state of Florida.

Essential Duties

  • Serve as Senior Civil Engineer, prepare & implement design calculations, analysis and permitting on all assigned projects & sites.
  • Review client requested proposals or plans to determine procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources for all phases of each project (estimating, scheduling, design, permitting, construction support and close-out).
  • Supports and develops project proposals through establishing, delegating, and performing the outlined work plan, assignments and staffing for each phase of assigned project(s), including, but not limited to durations, hourly rates, budget, and schedule.
  • Serve as primary contact for exchange of project information and communication between the firm and the client, with the support of senior staff.
  • Complete and review status reports and monitor intermediate and internal design reviews, such that documents adhere to the firm’s standards for completeness, quality, and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with the client’s standards.
  • Prepare project reports and schedules for management and client requests.
  • Ensure that all forms and scoping documents are complete and available for project team consumption.
  • Direct and review approach used by project staff in completing assignments.
  • Confer with other project managers and senior project staff to ascertain coordination, completeness, and accuracy of critical technical and non-technical requirements.
  • Provides technical support or clarification on questions from the client, or members of the project team.
  • Write technical reports, memos, or other correspondence that conform to the prescribed style and format of the client and the firm. This may include final exhibit reviews and legal descriptions based on division and state requirements.
  • May sign/seal drawings or other required documentation based on division and firm policies.
  • May support Division Recruitment efforts including participation in virtual & in-person interviews.
  • May provide and support initial new hire and ongoing training as applicable.
  • Support marketing efforts through technical writing in response to RFQs and RFPs.
  • Monitors new technology, evaluates, and recommends purchase of new equipment, software, and supplies.
  • Follow and abide by the DMA employee and safety manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
