About:

Histology laboratory in Fresno, CA is seeking a qualified individual for our busy lab, processing biopsy tissue specimens. The histotechnician will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in our state of the art, CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Senior or Lead Histotechnologist, you will provide high quality diagnostic material within established turn-around-times.


Responsibilities include:

  • Navigates lab information software and instrumentation software
  • Data entry of new cases using medical/anatomical terminology
  • Verifies appropriate accessioning and labeling of paperwork and corresponding specimens
  • Performs routine activities involved in preparation of tissue biopsy specimens for histological processing according to policies and procedures
  • Performs gross examination and description of biopsy tissue
  • Orders stains per established criteria
  • Operates standard tissue processor
  • Embeds biopsy specimens
  • Performs microtomy, H&E staining, Special stains and Immunohistochemistry (knowledge of automated platforms a plus)
  • Maintains orderly work station
  • Follows appropriate laboratory safety protocols
  • Ensures compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP standards


Requirements include:

  • 1+ years of hands on histology experience working with accessioning, cutting, embedding and analyzing samples
  • HT(ASCP) eligibility or Bachelors degree preferred for technicians that are a Level II or above
