Job Overview

Role Summary

As a Histology Laboratory Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and analysis of tissue samples. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the diagnostic processes within the laboratory environment.

Qualifications
  • Licensure: A valid Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist license is required.
  • Certifications: Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and CPRS are mandatory.
Operational Hours

The laboratory operates continuously, providing services 24/7, including on Federal Holidays. The work schedule for contractors will typically be Monday to Friday, from 0600 to 1430.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and advanced histological techniques, ensuring the preparation of high-quality slides from tissue specimens through processes such as embedding, cutting, staining, and cover slipping.
  • Manage the receipt and accessioning of specimens from various sources, including surgical units and outpatient facilities, while processing tissues into paraffin blocks and preparing slides for pathologist review.
  • Assist in autopsy procedures, which include preparing the body, performing initial incisions, dissecting tissues, and preserving samples for further examination.
  • Maintain an organized histology laboratory, ensuring that all blocks and slides are filed according to established protocols.
