Field Service Technician I

Location: Sterling IL - Field work within region

Compensation: up to $75,000 per year

Travel: 100% travel required – Domestic

License Requirement: Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.


Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Field Service Technician I who will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of industrial equipment. This hands-on role requires an individual who is comfortable troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems and providing detailed training to customers. The position involves extensive travel, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and requires overtime flexibility to meet client demands.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in equipment installation and ensure all systems are functioning properly.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers while on-site.
  • Conduct system start-ups and calibrate machinery, ensuring everything meets operational specifications.
  • Provide on-site training to customer staff regarding machine operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Submit daily reports summarizing work completed, challenges faced, and system statuses.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering and sales, to address customer issues and provide feedback.
  • Be available for emergency dispatch to provide immediate support as needed, 24/7.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 0-2 years of hands-on experience in construction, industrial equipment, or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and report-generating software.
  • Welding (MIG), metal fabrication, and assembly skills are preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and adjust to changing work schedules on short notice.


Work Environment

The role operates primarily in field settings and customer locations, often involving noisy, industrial environments. Safety gear may be required depending on the job site. Employees must be comfortable working with heavy equipment and adhering to safety protocols.
