Job Description


We are a 100% Employee Owned (ESOP) leading building material wholesale distributor with eleven locations located throughout the Southern US. We seek an experienced and dynamic Director of Human Resources to join our team headquartered in Savannah, Georgia. As the Director of HR, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the HR department, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation and benefits, safety, training and compliance Your influence will be felt throughout the organization.  


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process, ensuring the timely and successful hiring of qualified candidates.
  • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and grievance procedures.
  • Administer employee safety and benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations, staying up to date on any changes or updates.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies and procedure.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR management, business administration, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive HR experience, with at least three years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations (DOT, OSHA).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in recruitment and selection, including interviewing and talent assessment.
  • Professional HR certification is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Occasional travel required to various company locations.
