This is a TEACHER position in the Special Education Services department as a Hearing Impaired (HI) Itinerant Teacher at Crossroads II, Cary, NC. The role involves providing direct instruction and support to students eligible for deaf/hard of hearing services and managing a caseload of K-12 students following the Common Core Standards and Extended Content Standards.
- Extensive knowledge required in assessing and teaching language development, understanding typical language development, knowledge of audiograms, amplification systems, Common Core Standards/Extended Content Standards, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
- Ability to interpret assessments, collaborate with various stakeholders, communicate effectively, and establish and maintain relationships within the school community.
- Bachelors degree in Education of the Deaf and experience supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students are mandatory.
- Certification needed in Deaf Education (K-12) and a valid motor vehicle operators license as per NC State requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in Education of the Deaf and additional certification/experience in Special Education are preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining rapport, providing instructional services, organizing student information, data collection for progress monitoring, ensuring auditory access, and more.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The job operates in a professional office environment with light physical work involving the use of standard office equipment and occasional direct contact with school system staff and the community.
