Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate (DAVA) Position - Tinker AFB, Oklahoma
The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate (DAVA) is responsible for providing nonclinical emergent and urgent services to Air Force personnel, their family members, or intimate partners who are victims of domestic abuse. The DAVA plays a crucial role in coordinating a community response to domestic abuse allegations and ensuring victims receive necessary support and education services.
- Responds to calls following established protocols and maintains a record of interactions.
- Collaborates with the Family Advocacy case manager to develop effective safety plans.
- Conducts risk assessments and establishes safety plans based on identified risks.
- Includes children in safety planning and ensures their well-being.
- Reports changes in victim's circumstances promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Provides comprehensive services such as emotional support, transportation arrangement, and legal assistance.
- Advocates for victims to ensure their needs are met by relevant agencies.
- Educates victims on available resources and support services.
- Collaborates with first responders and support agencies to ensure victims' safety.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or related field.
- Two years of experience in providing advocacy services to victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault.
- Basic Advocate credential with a Comprehensive Intervention Specialist designation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and professionals.
- Valid motor vehicle license and transportation for victim assistance.
- Willingness to provide 24/7 on-call victim advocacy services.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate under pressure to meet deadlines.
