Pacific Lifestyle Homes is on the lookout for a skilled Purchasing Manager with experience in residential construction. As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing vendor selection and cost management for our Boise, ID team. This essential role involves establishing positive relationships with top trade partners, negotiating contracts, and providing accurate cost estimates. Initially stationed in Boise, ID, this position will involve travel to Vancouver, WA for training. However, there is vast potential for advancement, including the chance to lead a team over time.

Requirements:
Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the purchasing team to efficiently coordinate Company purchasing services
  • Proactively recruits and selects qualified, competitively priced Boise area subcontractors and suppliers
  • Negotiates and administers vendor contracts
  • Proficiency in analyzing bid comparisons for competitive pricing
  • Manages features and options to keep selections up-to-date
  • Handles budgets for all homes/subdivisions
  • Provides leadership to maintain accuracy of purchase order and pricing database
  • Reviews scope of work for trade contractor agreements
  • Identifies cost control opportunities while upholding quality standards
  • Collaborates with design and construction teams for value engineering new and existing plan sets
  • Monitors and updates design/product options to align with market preferences
  • Collaborates across departments to achieve Company strategic objectives
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Purchasing Manager:
  • 3-5 years' experience in purchasing or contract management
  • Experience in purchasing within the residential construction industry is essential for this role
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, sales, or related field, or associate's degree with equivalent experience
  • Understanding of home construction building process including methods, materials, contracts
  • Knowledge of residential construction trades
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to find effective solutions
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and multitasking skills, high accuracy, and follow-through
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation proficiency
  • Responsible, with a strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability
  • Initiative and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Professional, approachable, and team-focused
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities
  • Proficient in computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Prior experience with homebuilding enterprise and project management software
