Role Summary: As an Associate Director, you will collaborate closely with Directors, Managing Directors, and junior team members to oversee client relationships in the United States. Responsibilities include supporting deal origination throughout the entire process, from inception to closure. This involves creating pitchbooks, presentations, financial models, and research, along with credit activities such as reviewing credit presentations, structuring loan transactions, conducting due diligence, negotiating documentation, and monitoring industry trends. Additionally, you will interact with other departments and products, facilitating knowledge acquisition of Scotiabank's diverse offerings like Global Loan Syndications, Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, Cash Management, Trade Finance, Equity, and Debt Capital Markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a customer-centric culture to enhance client relationships and capitalize on broader bank resources and expertise.
  • Support the professional growth and mentorship of team Analysts and Associates.
  • Evaluate the financial requirements of REITs and Corporate clients, including developing financial models.
  • Assist in originating lending opportunities, collaborating with the Corporate Banking Execution team on credit presentations and engaging with Global Risk Management for credit adjudication.
  • Aid in negotiating loan terms and documentation, engaging with borrowers/other banks to facilitate transaction closures.
  • Enhance sector/industry and bank product knowledge to identify trends and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Prepare marketing materials, presentations, and support client pitches and deal executions.
  • Collaborate with the Bank's specialized product groups to customize offerings for clients and promote effective product marketing and delivery.
  • Understand the bank's risk appetite and embed risk considerations into daily operations and decisions.
  • Promote a high-performance environment and contribute to fostering an inclusive workplace.

Requirements:

  • Positive attitude with a team-oriented mindset.
  • 5-7 years of experience, ideally in Corporate Banking, Direct Lending Credit/Finance, or related fields.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science, or Technology.
  • Thorough understanding of financial markets and sector/product landscapes.
  • Expertise in structuring, credit, and financial analysis, particularly in secured, direct lending.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and strong computer skills (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High attention to detail and a strong desire to learn and grow.
