Job Description

The Associate Director of Community Life, Equity, and Inclusion reports to the Director of Community Life, Equity, and Inclusion and is an integral part of the team. The Associate Director of Community Life, Equity, and Inclusion reports to the Director of Community Life, Equity, and Inclusion and is an integral part of the School's administrative team. The goal of this position is to work with all constituent groups at City and Country to ensure a sense of belonging; and that the experience is one of inclusion and equity. The Associate Director will focus primarily on faculty education and student engagement in ages 2s–13s. As a community resource, an important aspect of the role is working with and alongside the Director of Community Life, Equity, and Inclusion and Division Directors to understand the many touchpoints of students' daily experiences within the school, to support diverse student identities and traditions while refining systems within the school that promote cultural, gender, neurodivergent, racial, religious, and socio-economic inclusion. This hire will serve as a strong, positive, presence in the life of the school, partnering with faculty and staff to address DEIB-related issues when they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom support around topics of equity and inclusion by co-leading community meetings, reading books, and creating activities, when applicable
  • Partner in ensuring that DEIB is embedded in the constructivist and emergent curriculum of the school at developmentally appropriate stages
  • Work with the Admissions office to welcome and retain students and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Oversee and advise adult affinity groups in order to support a positive, equitable, and successful experience at C&C, when applicable
  • Support the student affinity groups by serving as an advisor and/or by providing ongoing professional development and logistical help to advisors/facilitators
  • Collaborate with the Director of CLEI to manage schedules and calendars for meetings and programming
  • Support the director in the design and implementation of school-wide programming and diversity-focused training for various constituencies
  • Develop periodic workshops, bring in outside speakers/consultants, and serve as a resource for faculty, staff, Trustees, and administrators around social justice
  • Oversees community programming relevant to the Office of Community Life, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Manage the communication and the logistics of the CLEI office and for events hosted by the CLEI office
  • Assist with all-school DEIB initiatives sponsored by the Office of Equity and Inclusion
  • Support group teachers with community meetings that increase students' sense of belonging
    • Bachelors in Education or related field required, Masters preferred
    • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to communicate with a diverse population verbally and in writing
    • Knowledge of standard office software packages including Google Suite, Blackbaud
    • A proven ability to work independently, one-on-one, and collaboratively to stay organized, obtain results, and meet deadlines Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Work
