The SEAD (Social, Emotional, and Academic Development) Coach plays a crucial role as part of the school support team, offering assistance to students, staff, and families by utilizing best practices to support individuals and student groups through positive behavior strategies. This role involves supporting the implementation of Response to Intervention Behavior (RTI2-B), Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS), and the framework for Social Emotional Learning, focusing on competencies like Self-Management, Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Responsible Decision Making, and Positive Relationships.

The SEAD Coach will also be involved in coordinating behavior assessments and intervention plans to address challenging student behaviors, ultimately fostering academic success. The main aim is to reduce behavior issues, enhance positive behavior, and boost achievement for all students in alignment with Hamilton County guidelines while providing mentorship and support to teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the school community in implementing positive behavior systems, including RTI2B and MTSS interventions.
  • Conduct workshops, trainings, and presentations on classroom management techniques and behavior development strategies.
  • Provide behavioral oversight and support within the school.
  • Develop and deliver professional development sessions and instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with various school personnel to implement Social Emotional Learning strategies.
  • Track behavior and academic progress through data collection systems.
  • Support teachers in implementing instructional strategies and behavior management tactics.
  • Provide individualized support to students with challenging behaviors.
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop intervention plans.
  • Coach staff in implementing behavior plans effectively.
  • Deliver SEL lessons and supports as required.
  • Attend and contribute to various meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform general tasks such as clerical duties and data entry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, social work, or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in child or family support roles.
  • Expertise in restorative practices and professional learning facilitation.
  • Prior experience as a district coach is advantageous.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, educators, and parents.
  • Familiarity with formative assessments and SEL best practices.
  • Strong understanding of SEL and RTI2B methodologies.

Additional Training

  • Training will be provided on various topics such as RTI2B/MTSS, PBIS, Restorative Practices, and more.

Compensation

Certified positions are compensated based on education and experience, while classified positions are based on Grade H salary scale.
