Job Title: Special Education Therapist
Hamilton County Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Therapist to join our team in providing a world-class education to all students.
Overview
As a Special Education Therapist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that students with disabilities receive the support and services they need to succeed. You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
Responsibilities
- Assess and provide therapy to students with disabilities, collaborating with school personnel to develop educational goals and facilitate the IEP process
- Implement the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Response to Intervention (RTI), and provide inclusionary and individualized services for students with disabilities
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and use data to inform instruction and drive decisions
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with teachers, students, and parents/guardians, communicating regularly on student progress
- Manage and support para-professionals, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to provide high-quality services
- Work with administrators to stay informed of major changes in behavior or academics related to students on your caseload
Qualifications
- Master's degree with Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or clinical fellow experience
- Experience working with a diverse range of disabilities and communication disorders
- Commitment to high academic achievement and high expectations for all students
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families
- Openness to coaching and feedback to advance learning and growth for students
- 2 years of demonstrated successful professional experience
- Endorsement Codes 498 and/or 458
Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation through our Differentiated Compensation Plan, which applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions.
