Position Summary

There are twopositions available and the PCC Campus locations will be determined at the timeof hire.

PortlandCommunity College is seeking to fill a full-time Office Assistant (OA II)position within the Academic and Career Pathway Guidance (ACPG) Division. This position performs a wide variety of office and administrative functions,primarily in support of Pathway Advising and Career Services, including basicknowledge and referrals to Student Accounts, Enrollment Services, Orientation,Testing, and many other areas within Student Services.

The Office Assistant may be one of the first contacts to students when theyarrive at PCC. In addition, the Office Assistant may support students,staff, or faculty with initial problem-solving, triaging situations, andconnecting to college resources as needed.

Proficiency in the full range of general office services and functions as wellas specific technical knowledge, especially in the area of database andconfidential reporting is desired. In addition, this position is responsiblefor training and scheduling of student staff to provide peer-to-peer engagementand development supporting student success.

This position reports directly to and works closely with the Academic andCareer Pathways Guidance Managers.

Student services experience and success
  • Demonstrated experience working in post-secondary environments, or a similar area, and experience supporting underrepresented students.
  • Demonstrated experience with technical knowledge, student information systems, triaging challenging situations, and timely communication. Uses a computer and a variety of office software applications including word processing, email, file management, Microsoft and Google products.
  • Experience assisting students who are seeking support, in need of a referral, and or guidance around student resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop positive working relationships with colleagues and with strong collaboration.
Student-centered
  • Demonstrated commitment to high standards of equitable engagement and achievement for all students.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of office assistant experience (college or business school training may be substituted for up to two years of the experience requirement).

Starting Salary Expectations

The first two steps of the range are: $41,258 to $42,496 per year. Higher salary placement may be available based on qulifications, experience and internal equity.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age. Partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions (full-time employees only).

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
- Starts at 8 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Positions in this job family typically work in an office setting but may be assigned more physical duties such as transporting office supplies and equipment. Position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal. Some positions may involve limited local travel.
