Job Summary

The Inspection Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing the Inspection and Static Equipment program at the Mount Vernon Site. The primary focus will be on overseeing programs and projects aimed at boosting the asset reliability of fixed asset systems, including piping, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, and structures within designated plant units. This position will entail close collaboration with Maintenance Engineers, Maintenance Leaders, Reliability Specialists, and Inspection Contractors to oversee inspections, analyze reports, and devise optimal repair/replacement strategies.

How You Can Make an Impact

You will be responsible for advancing the Inspection and Static Equipment program at the Mount Vernon, Indiana site. Your key responsibilities will revolve around managing programs and projects to enhance the asset reliability of fixed asset systems such as piping, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, and structures. This will involve active participation in an enhanced mechanical integrity project for fixed asset equipment. Working closely with Maintenance Engineers in various units, Maintenance Leaders, Reliability Specialists, and Inspection Contractors, you will provide technical support for developing inspection and remediation plans for piping, tanks, and vessels systems.

You'll be tasked with supporting preventative and predictive maintenance processes while striving for optimal equipment reliability and uptime. Utilizing methodologies like RCA to identify root causes and RBI to enhance the inspection program will be critical. Additionally, this role will involve identifying opportunities to develop and execute projects/programs aimed at continually improving the site's Mechanical Integrity program.

What SABIC is Looking For

  • BS in Engineering required: Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the petrochemical industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and adept understanding of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with a diverse group of colleagues and contractors.
  • Preferred certifications in API 510, API 570, API 653, and NACE CIP.
  • Working knowledge of API 579, 580, and 581 is desirable.
  • Familiarity with ASME Codes and Standards, welding processes, and static equipment repair techniques.
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematics, utilize computer business software, and communicate clearly.
  • Self-starter with facilitation skills, focused on delivering results within set timelines.
  • Capable of driving and influencing activities to achieve objectives.
  • Experience in project management is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves a mix of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the plant, climbing ladders, and entering vessels for inspection activities. Candidates must be fit-tested for SCBA and adhere to site PPE regulations while in process areas. Occasional lifting of 50 pounds may be required.
