Under the general supervision of the Administrator I, the Tax Technician independently performs a variety of activities required for the daily operation of the e-Programs Customer Service Unit in the Customer and Publication Services Program.

The incumbents primary responsibilities include assisting mandatory electronic funds transfer (EFT) and e-file customers to comply with the department's policies and procedures for our English and Spanish speaking customers.

The incumbent will provide English and Spanish customer service by telephone and/or correspondence. The incumbent will help to resolve issues and answer questions related to both of these programs. When providing e-program customer service to the public, the incumbent must exercise professionalism and good judgment.

The incumbent must also must possess a good understanding of the e-program processing procedures, related individual and business entity tax laws, as well as practical knowledge of the necessary accounting systems in order to assist the customer in identifying the exact nature of the issue.

In addition the incumbent will assist on various other workloads within the Customer and Publication Services Program, Multilingual Communications Team assistance with translating, proofreading, and assisting with various other assignments.

Working Conditions

The incumbent must be available to work during the core business hours of the e-Programs Customer Service Unit from

This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need.

FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
