Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Franchise Tax Board (FTB) is seeking a skilled professional to become part of our Audit Business Support (ABS) team. Reporting to the Administrator I and collaborating with Team Leads, the selected candidate will undertake a variety of analytical functions to assist the Audit and Legal Divisions. Responsibilities include executing intricate account modifications and scrutinizing audit closure procedures performed by Tax Program Technicians to ensure precision, uniformity, and adherence to regulations.
The incumbent will manage and evaluate workloads, including but not limited to: matters concerning interest, timely submissions, non-billable payment processing, notice handling, and transactions exceeding $100K, as well as mixed files and Notices of Proposed Assessment (NPAs). The role requires proficiency in systems such as Case Management, Taxpayer Folder, Taxpayer Information (TI), Business Entities Tax System (BETS), and Professional Audit Support System (PASS) to assess accounts for thoroughness and correctness.
As a Staff Services Analyst, the individual will provide constructive feedback, mentorship, and training on audit cases and workloads. This position is recognized as an ABS subject matter expert, responsible for delivering technical support to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the successful implementation of EDR initiatives.
Working Environment
This role offers the possibility of remote work within California, subject to departmental policies and operational requirements. The FTB mandates a minimum in-office presence of two days per week for all roles, including those eligible for telecommuting.
Special Considerations
- A background investigation must be successfully completed prior to employment.
The FTB employs E-Verify as part of its hiring process to ensure a lawful workforce. E-Verify is an online system that allows participating employers to verify the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Compliance and Qualifications
All candidates for state civil service positions must meet general qualifications including integrity, dependability, and the ability to work collaboratively. Additionally, if the role requires driving, a valid state driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.
