The Parks and Recreation Director is a key role in overseeing the operations, finances, and evaluation of programs within the Parks and Recreation department. Reporting to the Mayor, this visionary position involves strategic planning, coordination with other departments, and ensuring the successful execution of the City's vision.



Primary Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, and supervises various programs and projects
- Identifies and implements creative events for the parks
- Directs short and long-term plans for park facilities and programs
- Fundraises for special park needs
- Prepares budgets, reports, and policy recommendations
- Evaluates programs and activities through reports and inspections
- Ensures adherence to operating procedures and maintenance schedules
- Enforces city policies and park rules
- Coordinates activities with other departments and agencies
- Provides supervision and technical assistance
- Responds to and resolves complaints from various stakeholders
- Attends necessary meetings and performs additional assigned duties

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in park administration and programming
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Strong communication and managerial skills

Physical Demands:
- Reading from computer screens, emails, and taking phone calls
- Reaching with hands and arms
- Visual abilities including close vision and depth perception
- Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds

Work Environment:
- Professional and deadline-driven atmosphere
- Interacting with staff and customers, handling potential conflicts
