Direct Care Staff

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for ensuring the well-being and security of the clients within the facility. This role involves active participation in both individual and group training activities, resembling the responsibilities of a caregiver.
The Direct Care Staff must undergo specialized training and apply that knowledge to their daily tasks. These responsibilities carry a significant level of accountability and are carried out under the guidance of the Team Leader Supervisor and other professional staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the safety and welfare of clients through supervision and training according to the Individual Program Plan.
- Execute the Active Treatment Schedule for assigned clients and collaborate closely with them.
- Implement behavioral strategies in response to maladaptive behaviors.
- Conduct client training activities as per the Individual Program Plan.
- Assist clients in maintaining orderly living spaces and appropriate dressing.
- Accompany and train clients during planned excursions outside the facility.
- Participate in mandatory in-service training for professional development.
- Adhere to data collection procedures and uphold client rights.
- Follow prescribed employee conduct and dress code policies to safeguard clients, colleagues, and staff.
- Notify the Team Leader Supervisor of any supply needs.
- Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the client's living unit.
- Provide reports on client needs and promptly communicate any changes in their condition.
- Attend meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Apply healthcare techniques such as oral hygiene and bathing as trained.
- Comply with State and Federal regulations along with ICF/MR Conditions of Participation.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Direct Care Staff must have a minimum of a 12th-grade education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
On-the-job training is provided.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
(Preferred qualifications)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ideally, candidates should possess at least one year of experience in a related role, child care, or health services.
- CPR certification is advantageous
