***The Program Director-School and Justice Initiatives directs all program activities for school and justice public education programs, including Notice. Talk. Act. at School Mental Health Professional Development Program, Judges and Psychiatrists Leadership Initiative, and the Stepping Up Initiative. Develops program objectives, secures and manages grants and contracts in support of the programs, and develops partnerships to expand program delivery. The Program Director works with the Development Officer in the industry liaison function to obtain funding and supports the communications role for the programs listed above in collaboration with APA Office of Communications.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage Grants and Contracts related to School and Justice Programs- Manages budget and finances of program, ensuring adherence to budget

  • Manages relationship with external partners responsible for direct trainings and program exposure
  • Prepares and submits grant reconciliations and reports to grantors
  • Updates the Director, Fellowships and Medical Education on operational activities, particularly bringing attention to timesensitive issues
  • Presents at the Corporate Advisory Council on programs.

Direct. Talk. Act. at School Initiative- Prospect and identify funding opportunities

  • Present at conferences on the program to create nationwide awareness
  • Manage APA member engagement and/or partners supporting or providing direction for the program
  • Conduct market research and programmatic evaluation to continuously improve program curriculum, materials and delivery.
  • Maintain communications and financial records of each school delivery.
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative reports as required by grantors and APAF Board of Directors.
  • Provide APA Child, Adolescent and their families with monthly updates on program offerings and potential partnerships.
  • Manage submission to APA meetings site for Scientific Program Committee review.

Direct Judges and Psychiatrists Leadership and Stepping Up Initiatives- Coordinate with CSG and State Judicial Colleges Directors for training of judges and psychiatrists, with the goal of training 10,000 judges by 2030.

  • Manage logistics of meetings including travel, hotels, and catering. Handles travel reimbursements for JPLI trainings.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas, background materials and reports of meetings.
  • Develop marketing plan for program exposure and APA member engagement.
  • Present at conferences to create awareness of the program.
  • Oversee program budget and expense reconciliations.
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative reports as required by grantors and APAF Board of Directors.
  • Serve as staff liaison to program advisory committee. Report on program activities and future initiatives
  • Manage submission to APA meetings site for Scientific Program Committee review.

APAF Public Education Program Communications_ (Supporting function)_

  • Collaborate with Director, Fellowships and Medical Education, APAF Marketing and APA Office of Communications to develop press releases, media articles, interviews, etc.
  • Conduct initial and periodic reviews of marketing and communication efforts to identify priorities, needs and new opportunities for school and justice public education programs.
  • Write and oversee production of support materials such as brochures, annual report, and advertisements to promote the work of the school and justice programs.
