Primary Purpose:
The Patient Services Specialist is tasked with gathering accurate patient information and necessary documents during patient scheduling, registration, and collections according to KPHC policies and procedures. All data must be entered into Centricity and documents scanned. Monitor front office activities and maintain effective communication with all departments to ensure a positive patient experience.
The individual in this role is an essential part of the Patient Centered Health Care Home team where each member contributes significantly to providing patient-centered health care.
Essential Duties:
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure accuracy in registration and collections consistently
- Enhance team customer service; greet all patients and ensure smooth patient flow
- Respond to phone calls promptly with minimal wait times
- Provide performance feedback to supervisor and team members
- Customer Service:
- Greet all customers promptly and courteously
- Answer general inquiries and direct individuals to the appropriate department
- Patient Registration:
- Validate completeness of new patient registration forms and ensure they are scanned
- Update patient information consistently for every visit
- Create charts for new obstetric patients
- Scan and import required documents into registration attachment box
- Appointment Scheduling:
- Schedule or update appointments status
- Advise patients on necessary documents for eligibility programs
- Remind patients to bring medications and medical records
- Assist patients with filling out forms when needed
- Coordinate interpreter services if necessary
- Telephone System:
- Answer calls promptly and courteously
- Direct calls to appropriate staff or department
- Pre-register new patients and verify information
- Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy
- Promote patients' rights and handle complaints
- Handle daily deposit slips
- Verify insurance prior to appointments
- Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Skills/Knowledge:
- 2 years of experience in customer service
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Word
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Reliable on-site attendance
- Education:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Skills/Knowledge:
