Patient Charge Specialist

Job Summary:
The Patient Charge Specialist will be responsible for processing, auditing, and entering patient charges in accordance with established departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures. This role will also involve monitoring the accuracy of master files of charge items for procedures and supplies in assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process and audit patient charges in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of charge items and master files
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and compliant billing practices
• Analyze and resolve billing discrepancies and errors
Requirements:
• High school diploma or comparable education
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
• Minimum one (1) year experience with supplies and/or patient charges in assigned area OR ability to perform 7,200 Adjusted Keystrokes per hour
• Demonstrated experience with computers and word processing (i.e., Word) preferred
• Knowledge of inpatient and hospital billing requirements (CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS, UBC, DRG, APC, CoPATH, etc.) preferred
Working Conditions:
This role is not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
