About the Team

AP is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion andhard work of students and educators from secondary schools and highereducation.

With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, APprovides willing and academically prepared high school students with theopportunity to study and learn at the college level.

The AP program iscontinuing to rapidly expand its development of instructional andassessment products under the leadership of the growing AssessmentProduction team.

The team currently consists of 13 talented andcollaborative professionals with expertise in a variety of domains andwill continue to expand over the next year.

To support the continued production of high-quality teacher- andstudent-facing materials, the AP Program is looking fill the role of Associate Director, AP Permissions.

About the Opportunity
The

Associate Director, AP Permissions
& Licensing will secure third-party copyright permissions primarilyfor all AP assessment products across all courses, as well as othercurricular products in the AP division. This position will work closelywith AP Permissions staff, content teams, and project managers managingeach course\'s assessment production efforts to build and execute acopyright plan that balances the needs and priorities of variousstakeholders.
As

Associate Director, AP Permissions
& Licensing , you are an integral member of the cross-functional teambuilding and delivering AP Exams. You are a collaborative, insightful,and highly-motivated professional, with a keen eye for detail and apassion for educational opportunity. You are not shy about researchingtexts and images, contacting rightsholders, and working with externalvendors.

In this role, you will:
Report to the Director, AP Permissions & Licensing.
Research and clear permissions for AP Assessments (50%)
Review stakeholder requests for use of third-party content and makedeterminations about permissions, fair use, and public domain
Facilitate permissions requests with rightsholders when needed;ensure that we are seeking the appropriate rights needed; handle allcorrespondence with rightsholders from request through contractsignature and payment
Adhere to agreed-upon schedules to ensure that permissions deadlinesare met; propose alternative pathways and solutions when permissionsare not able to be secured
Support communications for AP Permissions & Licensing (40%)
Partner with AP content teams and course project managers to ensurecopyright tracking for all current projects is up-to-date andprovides all needed information such as credit lines
Liaise with Assessment Production project managers to ensure thatpermissions requests are submitted with proper timing in the processand documentation
Report on progress, at regular intervals, in writing and viascheduled meetings; ensure that all team members are aware ofpotential risks and propose alternative solutions
Make informed, independent judgment calls on permissions and contentissues; escalate issues and steer to higher-level resolution whenneeded
Receive reports on AP content posted online without permission,handle removals, and maintain correspondence in Copyright Violationsemail inbox
Process Development and Improvement (10%)
Collaborate with peers within and outside the broader AP AssessmentProduction team to do ument and iterate on current permissionsmanagement practices
Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on anongoing basis
About You

You Have:
Bachelor\'s degree (required)
Experience with copyright permissions and / or licensing required.
{=html} - Understanding of copyright including public domain and fair use, andthe process of requesting permission from rightsholders.- A detail-driven, process-oriented mindset- Expertise in Smartsheet , MS Excel and item bank management.- Ability to process and distill large volumes of data and drawinsightful conclusions to drive decision-making- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills;demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships atall levels of the organization- Willingness and ability to travel domestically 1-2 times per quarter- Are eligible to work in the USA for any employer
