Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to provide scientific and operational leadership for biomarker research strategies in ALS. The Biomarker Development position will be within the Boston Neurodegeneration Group, which is part of the larger Neurodegeneration therapeutic area. The ideal candidate is someone with a strong scientific background, proven track record in neurodegenerative diseases and hands-on-experience with a broad range of in vitro assays. The selected candidate will work cross-functionally with pre-clinical therapeutic development teams to identify biomarker needs and develop assays for effective translation of these projects into the clinic. This is a unique opportunity for a scientist who wants to develop their career in industry and make an impact in Lilly's efforts to discover new treatments for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead identification of biomarker strategies for novel therapeutic targets in ALS.Collaborate with therapeutics teams to ensure parallel development of biomarker assays alongside therapeutic development.Establish and optimize assays to detect biomarkers in biofluids.Carry out exploratory research to investigate novel biomarkers (i.e. extracellular vesicle purification and analysis)Ensure up to date knowledge of the ALS biomarker field, including diagnostic and treatment responsive biomarkers.Provide timely written and oral communication of work to key stakeholders.Basic Requirements: PhD in Biology, Neuroscience, or related field.Additional Preferences:Strong knowledge of requirements for biomarker development to support translation of therapeutics into the clinic.Expertise in assay optimization, development, and qualification.Sound knowledge of experimental design and statistics for biology experimental work.Understanding of biology lab safety requirements.Experience in drug development in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.Capable of independently designing experiments, generating data, interpreting results, and documenting work.Strong organization skills, good time management and attention to detailAbility to communicate effectively and report results accurately and in a timely manner.Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Excellent organization skills.
