The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is seeking a full time Board certified/Board eligible pediatric cardiologist with expertise in advanced cardiac imaging at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join a growing academic and clinical division.

Candidates with 4th year training in advanced cardiac imaging are encouraged to apply as there is opportunity for development of a congenital MRI/CT program.


Stony Brook Children's Hospital and the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is an academic institution without pediatric cardiac surgical or interventional services.

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology provides inpatient consultation services for PICU, NICU, Pediatric ED and acute pediatric inpatient floors. The Division performs approximately 3000 outpatient pediatric cardiology consultations annually.

Clinical responsibilities include interpretation of transthoracic echocardiograms, fetal echocardiograms, exercise stress tests, Holter/event monitoring and EKG interpretation. Candidates must possess or be eligible for New York State licensure.


We are supported by the presence of all major pediatric subspecialists along with a strong pediatric surgery department and a dedicated pediatric emergency room.

The caliber of our clinical services and research has earned us the designation as a children's hospital by the Children's Hospital Association.

As an academic institution, this position requires a significant commitment to teaching across the undergraduate to graduate medical education spectrum.

Interest in research, scholarship and quality improvement initiatives are highly encouraged.

Research is supported by an NIH funded General Clinical Research Center (GCRC). Current Division research interests include fetal cardiology, preventive cardiology, echocardiography and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The clinical services of Stony Brook Children's serve the nearly 500,000 children of Suffolk County, New York and boasts the following resources:

The only dedicated, tertiary-care Long Island Children's Hospital located outside of New York City. Stony Brook Children's opened its new Children's Hospital in November 2019.

This space is part of Stony Brook Medicine's $423 million expansion project, which also includes a Medical and Research Translation (MART) building.

A 10-bed Med-Surg PICU featuring large individual rooms, a bariatric room, and capacity for 2 additional step-down beds.
A 50-bed Level III NICU and Regional Perinatal Center.
A Fetal Heart Program and Coordinated Fetal Care Program supported by two NPs and social worker.
Dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department to undergo expansion.
Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.

A 150 person Pediatrics faculty covering all Pediatric Subspecialties including Adolescent Medicine, Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Abuse and Advocacy, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Genetics, Hematology/Oncology, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Palliative Care and Rheumatology.

Pediatric Surgical Specialists in General Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery, and Trauma as well as additional expertise in Pediatric Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery, Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery and Renal Transplantation.

Pediatric, Med/Peds, and Child Neurology residency training programs and selected subspecialty fellowships.

Rich research resources for laboratory, translational, and clinical research exist within the 20 clinical departments of the Medical School and the larger University.

Competitive seed money support within the Department exists for junior investigators or mid-career investigators pursuing new directions.

Required Qualifications:
MD/DO Degree (or foreign equivalent). Board Certified in Pediatrics. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology. New York State Licensed or eligible. Expertise in advanced cardiac imaging.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in research, experience in graduate medical education.
