As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent various faith systems and worldviews, Marian University is in search of a Director of Community Engagement and Marketing to enhance and promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by spearheading communication, engagement, and education to important stakeholders regarding the Riverside Education Innovation District or REID's offerings, facilities, and advancements. These stakeholders encompass schools, churches, community centers, neighborhood associations and leaders, families, government officials, and the general public. This role will directly report to the Vice President of Innovation and Growth.

Marian University will proceed with the hiring process for the Director of Community Engagement and Marketing once the grant request is sanctioned for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Embody and actively promote the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by exemplifying the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and upholding the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.

1. REID Community Engagement:

  • Act as a liaison for REID within the neighborhood and serve as a professional and enthusiastic advocate for its mission.
  • Develop and execute a community engagement plan including outreach strategies for various stakeholders, both new and existing.
  • Engage with and oversee relationships with the Community advisory board.
  • Organize and attend community gatherings to converse about and endorse REID as well as its offerings, facilities, and new developments.
  • Establish connections with new neighborhood stakeholders to assist Marian and REID in forming new partnerships to advance their mission.
  • Maintain a visible presence within the community and establish connections with community members, government officials, and local leaders.
  • Collaborate with university departments, such as the Center for Vibrant Schools, to boost the visibility and collaboration of their programs with neighborhood partners and leaders.
  • Enhance and broaden REID distribution lists.

2. REID Marketing:

  • Work closely with the Office of Marketing and Communications to ensure that REID initiatives align with university brand standards and marketing strategies.
  • Assist in identifying and overseeing REID partner marketing and communication activities.
  • Supervise the development and distribution of all marketing and communication requirements, which include newsletters, event materials, brochures, graphics, and other marketing assets.
  • Handle media relations activities and public communications in support of REID.
  • Manage and create content for REID's website and social media channels.
  • Collaborate with external partners to share updates and content ensuring the communication of REID information through their networks.
  • Address other marketing and communication matters as they emerge and other assigned duties.

3. University Expectations:

  • Regularly communicate with supervisors regarding Department concerns
  • Meet department productivity benchmarks
  • Contribute to establishing departmental goals, objectives, and systems
  • Assist in defining department metrics that align with and bolster the achievement of the university's strategic objectives
  • Adhere to the departmental budget

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, showcasing increasing responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to navigate and collaborate with diverse partners and stakeholders.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Capable of navigating a complex organization with a collaborative mindset.
  • Proven proficiency with computer applications (such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, but not on a regular basis.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for community events when needed.
  • The ideal candidate should be outgoing, capable of engaging with community members, and collaborating with them.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and public speaking abilities are essential for this role.
  • Solid understanding of social media, marketing, and an ability to adapt to evolving communication methods are also vital for success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in communications, marketing, community engagement, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, or organizational assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance programs and collaborate with individuals to achieve objectives efficiently.
  • Proficient in working within a complex organization and across different departments
  • Ability to comprehend various programs, facilities, and services, effectively communicate about them, and engage others.
  • An attentive listener, strategic thinker, and robust communicator with unwavering integrity.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
