Senior Recreation Therapist at Buffalo Psychiatric Center

The New York State Office of Mental Health is seeking a Senior Recreation Therapist for the Buffalo Psychiatric Center.

Job Description:
  • Design, develop, implement, and deliver recreational therapy services to enhance the well-being of patients at state-operated facilities.
  • Organize and direct therapeutic recreation programs such as sports, dance, drama, music, art, and social activities.
  • Supervise lower-level Recreation Therapists and recreation program staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation, creative arts therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, or drama therapy.
  • Post-degree professional experience in planning and administering therapeutic programs.
  • Certifications in relevant therapy specialties.

Duties Description:

  • Provides recreational therapy services for patients and residents.
  • Organizes and oversees various therapeutic recreation programs.
  • May supervise lower-level staff in program development and delivery.
