Job Description and Duties

ENGINEERING GEOLOGIST – NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION / CANNABIS WATERSHED PROTECTION PROGRAM / HEADQUARTERS

The reporting location for this position is Headquarters located at 715 P Street in Sacramento, California. This position will work under the direction of the Environmental Program Manager I.

Under the direction of the Cannabis Watershed Protection Program manager (CWPP), this position provides technical assistance to field offices and staff to address hydrologic and geologic issues, infrastructure layout, land use guidance, and designs for environmental restoration projects. The role involves a moderate level of independent action, problem-solving, and recommendations to project managers, program managers, and senior department management. Travel may be required up to 30% of the time.

Experience in hydrologic calculations and backcountry engineering is highly desirable. A valid professional geologist license issued by the California State Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists is required.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered. The position is telework eligible, and the incumbent is expected to be in the office two days per week.

This recruitment may be used to fill similar vacancies within 180 days of the Final Filing Date.

Working Conditions

Mostly office conditions, with some fieldwork required. Travel up to 30% of the time. May involve arduous fieldwork in rugged terrain.
